Red Light, Green Light, Yellow Light: Where Home Care Franchises Stand With Company-Owned Locations

October 16, 2024

Comfort Keepers has made the strategic decision to re-franchise its 69 company-owned locations, marking a pivotal shift in its approach to growth. After a thorough review with its new ownership, Comfort Keepers concluded that focusing exclusively on supporting its franchisees would drive stronger long-term results. By re-franchising these locations, Comfort Keepers can now dedicate all its efforts to helping franchisees expand and succeed.

Initially, company-owned locations gave Comfort Keepers valuable insights into franchise operations, including challenges such as caregiver recruitment and retention. This firsthand experience helped the company better connect with its franchisees. However, as Comfort Keepers grew, maintaining these locations consumed significant resources, diverting focus from its core mission to support its franchise partners.

Comfort Keepers successfully re-franchised most of the locations to existing franchisees and employees, ensuring a smooth transition. Now, with its operations streamlined, Comfort Keepers is fully focused on franchise growth. Reflecting on this change, Chief Operating Officer Ramzi Abdine said, “Being 100% franchise allows us to focus 100% on franchising. We have a lot of room for growth by selling new territories.” This strategic move positions Comfort Keepers to expand its footprint and seize new opportunities in the home care market, fully committed to its franchise-driven growth model.
